Pusarla V. Sindhu
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, a 24 year old Indian badminton player err champion. She recently defeated Nozomi Okuhara to win the 2019 World Championship. She made her international debut at age 14 and was ranked in the top 20 players worldwide at the age of just 17.
Long being called a choker (someone who falters at the big stage) as she has a lot of runner-up titles on her name which includes an Olympic silver. This World Championship win was needed to silence all those who called her such names.
As a matter of fact, beginning in 2013, she has won a medal at every world championships, with the exception of 2015.
A great testimonial of her hardwork and discipline can be traced in the fact that she used to travel 56 Kms everyday from her residence to reach her badminton coaching and still, was never late.
With earnings of US$8.5 and $5.5 million respectively, she made the Forbes' list of Highest-Paid Female Athletes in 2018 and 2019. She is the recipient of the sports honour Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, and India's fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri.
She's yet another young champion sports girl the whole world looks up to.
